Using Feng Shui in Your Home

With Feng Shui all things are connected. Literally translated it means "wind and water". Feng Shui incorporates chi or energy and in a home this is constantly in motion. The chi in a home can be affected by a lot of different factors which include location in room and also directional positioning.

The way you position items in your room will have a major affect on the chi, it needs to flow freely through the room and not get caught in any areas. However you need to make sure that it does not flow to quickly. Use Feng Shui to see how you can best improve your room so that you have a good flow of chi, remove any clutter and you will find that once you have a good chi flow the energy in the room will pick up and greatly improve.

There are certain elements which Feng Shui uses; these are metal, earth, fire, wood and water. To have a good balance in your life you need to make sure that you have a good balance of these elements in your home. You can do this by having some plants (wood) or red items, candles or good lighting (fire). Having to much of one element can not only throw the balance of your home out the window it can also throw your lifes balance off, consider all the areas of your home when placing these elements.

Use the ancient Chinese Bagua to divide your home into nine segments. Each of these segments represents an area of your life. You will need a floor plan of your house to do this; the template is placed over the floor plan. As well as segmenting the house you need to be aware of the colors you use as this also an important part of Feng Shui, certain colors can help change the flow of energy. Feng Shui might seem a little complicated at first glance, however there are some basic points to keep in mind...

It is possible to create better energy (chi) and improve your own life by adding or moving simple elements in and around your home. A good example is adding wind chimes to disperse stagnated chi, it should be made of metal and have 5 rods. Items with protruding or sharp corners can be bad for chi, try adding something where the corner is to soften the impact. Chairs and furniture should always face away from the walls, I think this one is common sense as not to many people like to sit and look at walls. It is not good to sit with your back to a window.

Want to inspire romance, try to improve your relationship by using fresh flowers. Place them in a west-facing window. Hang a crystal for more chi energy in the room. Have a uncluttered mind by removing the clutter from the porch and having a good flow of energy through there.
